Autism Speaks Pulls Some Legal Mojo On Me
18 06 2008As many of you know, I have Asperger’s Syndrome a rare and mild form of Autism… myself and many other autistic people do not support the organization Autism Speaks for many, many reasons. Well it appears I have received a takedown notice from Autism Speaks for one of the websites I operate.
Last last year I started the website AspieWeb to raise awareness that Autistic People do have a voice, and they don’t always agree with everything that’s said about them. Its been an ongoing project and I decided to create some t-shirts to further some of my beliefs one of which said “Autism Speaks Can Go Away. I have Autism, I can speak for myself.” Earlier today I recieved a legal notice from Autism Speaks through my shirt manufacturer.
I’m currently deciding how I’m going to respond.

Ah well, you’ll be glad to know I added your woes to my Squidoo lens on Autism Speaks. Granted, it’s just another boulder on top of the mountains of evidence the lens already has, but still, thought you’d appreciate the support.
Yeah, when I read about this on WrongPlanet.com I added a comment in stumbleupon about the page too, social networking is sweet…
I was so angered about this and it’s sad that people think they are helping autistics by donating to that organization.
