Dear Julia,
I don’t know how to start this or what to say. I just want you to know that I really do care about you, and I never wanted to abandon you like I have been forced to do. I wish so much I could see you, but I have been told I can not ever.
I don’t know if you understand what its like for me to loose you, but it’s the worst pain I have ever known. I cry every day thinking about you and I hope you find much more in life then I did.

This is nice and concise.
Especially the hope that she will find more in life than you (and Katelyn) do.
This is the hope which keeps the human species on.
And she will see how much her Mum loved dogs and nature.
