I am going to hopefully going to install a complete radio install on my car before May 1. Phase 1 is installation of the antenna system and a hole through the car’s firewall, and 6 holes in the roof. I just completed the first computer mockup of the antenna system.

Computerized Car Mockup

As you can see the plan is to install 6 roof antennas, but first my trunk has a luggage rack which must be removed and the holes sealed in an tidy looking way. Then a hole needs to be drilled through the cars firewall if I can’t find a factory hole to use in order to run a fused electrical run directly to the battery and ignition sense outlet in the electrical assembly. I am still deciding on the specific brand and model for the antennas and NMO mounts – however the following is the wavelength/style antenna and what they are going to be used for.

Roof: (front to rear)
1/4 wave VHF for secondary VHF Radio/scanning
5/8 wave cellular for air card
1/4 wave VHF for APRS

Trunk: (drivers side to passengers side)
Phantom 800 MHz for MSPSCS scanning
5/8 wave VHF for primary radio
Phantom Ghz for GPS
